Welcome to Fisheries Acoustics Quarterly |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Greetings! Hydroacoustic Technology, Inc. is proud to kick off the premier issue of Fisheries Acoustics Quarterly. In attempts to keep you up-to-date with advances on fisheries research tools and trends, this newsletter will share research success stories, equipment news, tips for fisheries biologists, industry news, and upcoming events. We will work to ensure that each newsletter offers information you will not easily find elsewhere.
In an effort to always keep the lines of communication flowing,
I encourage you to share your feedback and insights. You
might
be amazed at what takes place. Through dialogue we communicate,
we collaborate, and we can innovate - thus
pushing the next generation of fisheries research tools forward. So here is to
moving research technology forward together! |

HTI recently announced its new Model 295-G Acoustic Tag Data Logger (ATDL) that integrates GPS among other notable features. The “G” stands for GPS - which features GPS Synchronization. The new Model 295-G ATDL has all the attributes of both the Model 295-X ATDL and Model 295-I ATDL and can now sync acoustic tag data to satellite time. It can also take data from multiple ATDLs and merge them all into one simple file that can be viewed on any user-defined PC in the world (via wireless network).
The new Model 295-G ATDL also offers an enhanced detection algorithm and several data storage options. To learn more about the other new features click on the details link below.

Notes from an Expert:
5 Tips for Being Field
Season Ready |
 |
| |
 |
 |
| It is almost spring and many researchers are already getting prepared for seasonal fisheries studies. As I head out to do the same, I thought I would share my top five tips for getting ready for the fish and the field. |

1. Duct tape. Red Green says it is the secret weapon of handymen; I say it is the best friend of biologists.
2. Cell phone charger. No matter what the battery symbol may say, it is always good to have your charger on-hand. (It is also good to take a few minutes to program your cell with important numbers before heading out.)
3. HTI Rite-in-the-Rain Field Books. When working around water, all-weather writing paper is a must (and so is something to write with).
4. A Pocket-Sized Utility Tool. A Leatherman pocket-sized utility tool has needlenose pliers, wire cutters, screw drivers, and scissors - need I say more?
5. Sunscreen. No matter the weather, UV rays are there. Protecting your skin is important when in the field. (Bug spray does not hurt either, especially if you are working in Alaska.)
|
 |
Do you have tips that might help make fisheries biologists lives easier? Great!
What are they? Email me and the best tip received by March 31st will get a
Leatherman Tool and a highly coveted HTI Rite-in-the-Rain book sent their way! |
 |
| Have a great time out there and best of luck with your studies. |

HTI + Dell Partner Up for More Value |
 |
 |
 |
Simple is better, and direct adds value. When an HTI consultant or client needs a laptop for their hydroacoustic equipment, HTI now offers a direct connection to the IT experts. As a Dell Registered Partner, the cost and complexities of IT solutions are considerably reduced.
The entire partnership is built on reducing costs, speeding
up deployment times, offering a single-point of contact for IT needs, and ultimately helping our researchers work a
little
bit faster, better, and smarter. |
