HTI’s homogeneous tungsten carbide Standard Target Spheres are recommended for field calibration of Model 241 and Model 244 Hydroacoustic Systems and other manufacturers’ systems. Tungsten carbide standard target spheres are recommended over spheres made of copper or steel (which tend to corrode), lead (which absorbs sound), or ping pong balls (which are more variable and less durable).
